BES - What the Heck is Apple Pay...

By Eric Cook

Kathleen CraigI'm excited to announce the second episode has been scheduled for my new Banker Education Series monthly webinar and I'll be joined by Kathleen Craig, founder and president of a cool Michigan-based company HT Mobile Apps. In addition to being a fellow "recovering banker" and had worked in the industry for several years, she also is a presenter and speaker at bank conferences and conventions. She'll be talking about Apple Pay and has some great information on her blog that you may want to check out!

I had the pleasure of hearing her present at a recent Michigan Bankers Association event in Traverse City, MI on mobile banking. As a digital marketer (and "banker at heart") both of these topics are near and dear to me and it's apparent that consumers are using mobile devices more today than ever, with no signs of slowing down. In fact, on a recent WSI conference call we had someone from Google to provide an update on their April 21st "mobilegeddon" update and he indicated they expect this year mobile search activity will surpass desktop search. Despite this fact, however, he also stated that 77% of global websites are NOT mobile friendly - which of course creates a nice opportunity for me as a digital marketer and someone that helps build mobile friendly websites!

But back on topic for the Banker Education Series... Kathleen is going to join me on Thursday, May 21st at 3 pm Eastern and share some information about Apple Pay, the mobile phone giant's way to facilitate payments without having to use "plastic." We'll be discussing what Apple Pay means for community bankers (should we be concerned), how it changes the security around a transaction and what community bankers (and others in the payments industry) need to know.

Read more about the session over at the BES page or you can register right now if you like. Also, be sure to sign up for the email notifications so that you'll get updates on future episodes and have an opportunity to join us each month.
