Website Accessibility Updated From WCAG 2.0 to 2.1 (are you ready?)

By Eric Cook

WSI and AudioEyeAs you may know, web accessibility continues to be a “hot topic” these days (especially for banks). There are a number of ways to address the issue to ensure an accessible experience for your site visitors, and many of our clients have opted to engage AudioEye to help ensure website accessibility. In case you missed the announcement, W3C’s WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) recently updated from version 2.0 to 2.1. Given that version 2.0 was established in 2008, the updates not much of a surprise since the Internet has changed just a bit over the past 10 years. Read More

Here Comes Video... Are You Ready?

By Eric Cook

Google Daydream View VRThis week on my weekly webinar show, I spent some time talking about the power of video as a way to convey your brand and personality online. It also gave me a chance to brag-up my Google Pixel phone and the new Daydream View VR headset that Santa had under the tree for me (actually it was my wife, but Santa sounds more Christmas-ey). Read More

Web Accessibility Impacts All Website Owners - Things You Need to Know

By Eric Cook

Web AccessibilityBeginning in August of 2016, the issue of website accessibility under the U.S. ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) as it relates to websites became a rather important topic of focus for my clients (and me personally), particularly because I work so closely with community bankers. Seems a law firm out of the Pittsburgh area started sending “letters requesting settlement” focused on the financial industry claiming discrimination on behalf of plaintiffs located in a variety of states where my clients are located based on ADA and WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Read More

How Marketing Automation Can Help Your Bank Tackle the Top 10 Strategic Priorities for Banking in 2017

By Eric Cook

Bank Strategic Priorities and Marketing AutomationIt’s no secret I’m a big fan of the website The Financial Brand. For those of us that play in the banking and financial services space, it’s hard to visit their site and not spend half the day reading all the great articles on strategy, social media, digital change, fintech, etc. It’s like a candy store of awesome content and I typically get at least a half-dozen ideas to share with my banking friends every time I stop by. If you’re not subscribed to their email newsletter, you should do that now. Read More

Protect Your LinkedIn Account with Two-Step Verification

By Eric Cook

LinkedIn Two-Step VerificationThere's no doubting that our digital identity is pretty important, especially these days. The last thing any of us want is for someone to compromise one of our social media accounts and start posting, tweeting, connecting as us... without our permission (or knowledge). I've had two-step verification turned on for both Facebook and Twitter for quite some time and recently discovered this feature is now available in LinkedIn as well. I've enabled it, and suggest you do the same. Read More

I'm No Chicken Farmer, But if I Was... (A Story About Marketing Automation)

Baby chicken and marketing automationRecently, I've been talking a lot about the concept of marketing automation and how it can be a great way to more effectively manage visitors to your website. With advanced tracking code installed on your site, it's amazing what additional information you get about those who visit you online... and what you can do with that data to help move people along the conversion process, hopefully becoming a customer someday. Read More

We Can't Live Without 'Em - The Power of the Mobile Device

By Eric Cook

Mobile PowerWhile the first mobile phones provided consumers with one basic function, to make telephone calls wirelessly, today’s mobile devices do much more than simply allow you to talk with someone else. They have become our web browser video cameras, social media device, navigation guide, gaming platform, appointment calendar, alarm clock, flashlight, etc… Depending on which apps you’ve downloaded, there’s a good chance your mobile device does much more, but suffice to say the days of “just making phone calls” are a thing of the past. Read More

Rapid Responses & Lessons Learned

By Eric Cook

In my previous blog post about being “real time” and thinking on your feet, I shared some observations from a recent webinar on Pokémon Go. Thinking further about the webinar (because there were so many great points to share), I wanted to revisit some of my thoughts and reinforce some points.  Read More
