Summary:

Ever wonder what makes lead generation so successful? Lead magnets. Lead magnets are the smart approach to lead generation also known as a bribe-to-subscribe offer. They are also a way to get your visitors information in exchange for something valuable.

What do lead magnets do?

  • Lead magnets…
  • Are engaging
  • Generate quality leads
  • Provide good brand experience
  • Are shareable
  • Promote your brand as an expert

Lead magnets are equipped with the technology to get to know your consumers on a personal level.

Therefore, lead magnets “know” your customers' problems and can offer an immediate solution (that's why they can be so irresistible). This type of content has one of two names, content bait, and/or carrot content. Why such strange names? What do they mean? Content bait (or carrot content) is any piece of content that provides clear and immediate value to your audience. This type of content is often used to lure in your audience by creating content designed to attract backlinks. Common types of content include controversial content, data, guides and newsworthy pieces.

How do I know if I have engaged with a lead magnet before?

Examples of lead magnets:

  • White papers
  • Cheat sheets
  • Quizzes
  • Templates
  • Ebooks
  • Checklists
  • Widgets
  • Webinars
  • Live Demos
  • Special Offers

In conclusion…

Lead magnets are something that you have definitely engaged with before, but likely you were unaware of at the time of interaction. Therefore, lead magnets have increased your company's overall knowledge of your customer base, which in turn, has led to the increase of your sales and revenue, whether you were aware of it or not! So why not give lead magnets a shot? Because you probably already have! Lead magnets give your site visitors something they need or may be interested in from professional tips and data, to enjoying amusement. All you need to do is offer a free exchange-and that's it!
